Hanan Eshaq began exploring visual arts through photography during Yemen’s civil unrest in 2011. Being forced into the throes of an external conflict brought about the need for an internal resolution and reinterpretation of the world around her, and art was the best medium for that journey.

In addition to expressing personal philosophical interpretations, she also finds special interest in social structures, collective consciousness and challenging the status quo.
