Sevinç Ünal is a Swiss researcher of Turkish-Kurdish origin. Following her BA in political science at the University of Lausanne, she moved to France to complete a double master jointly run by Sciences Po Paris and the Institut des Langues et des Civilisations Orientales. She specializes in urban policies in Middle Eastern countries and Eurasian languages (Turkish and Persian). Her main research areas are urban transformations in South East Anatolia, social housing policies as well as forms of urban violence and vigilantism in major regional metropolises. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Near and Middle Eastern studies at the University of Basel. She cultivates an interest in forms of political resistances in art, the political and artistic practices of diasporas in Europe, and the mutual and transnational influences of music in the SWANA region.
