Dima Issa is senior lecturer in mass media and communications at the University of Balamand, in Lebanon. She earned her PhD in media and communications from the University of Westminster and a MsC in global media and communications, from the London School of Economics and Social Science. She was former media relations coordinator at Reach Out to Asia, a news presenter at Qatar TV and head of publications and website Doha Asian Games Organizing committee. Her academic research focuses on the relationship between popular media and disaporic audiences. Her book, Fairouz and the Arab Diaspora: Music and Identity in the UK and Qatar, was published by I.B. Tauris/Bloomsbury Publishing earlier this year.
