Tahirhan Aydin

Born in Bitlis, Hizan, in 1977, Prof. Dr. Tahirhan AYDIN completed his primary and secondary education in Hizan and graduated from Bitlis Imam Hatip High School in 1994. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1999. In 2003, he became a research assistant in the Department of Arabic Language and Rhetoric at the same faculty. He completed his Master’s degree (2005) with a thesis on “Multiple Intelligence Theory and Teaching Arabic to Foreigners,” and his PhD (2007) with a doctoral thesis titled “Sentence Structure in Arabic and Turkish, Teaching Arabic Sentences to Foreigners – Contrastive Analysis” at Gazi University. Between 2009 and 2011, he spent 1.5 years as a visiting scholar at Cairo University in Egypt, during which he also taught at Al-Azhar University. In 2012, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Mardin Artuklu University, becoming an Associate Professor in 2014. From 2017 to 2019, he conducted research on foreign language teaching and delivered lectures as
a visiting scholar at Indiana University’s Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures (NELC) in the USA.
He was promoted to Professor at Mardin Artuklu University in 2020. Later, he joined Dicle University in 2023 and was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Bitlis Eren University in 2025. Between 2015 and 2024, he delivered lectures and seminars across Europe and the Middle East, including Jagiellonian University (Poland), Rouen University (France), Al-Zaytoonah University (Jordan), and in Sweden under the Erasmus Program. He has held numerous administrative roles, including Dean, Vice Director of Institute, Erasmus Coordinator, Department Chair, and Senate Member.
