Shene Mohammed

is a translator, writer, and teaches literary translation. She holds an MFA in Literary Translation from the University of Iowa. Her book-length works include Exile is Arrival (Deep Vellum, 2027), an anthology of twelve nineteenth-century Sorani Kurdish poets co-translated and co-edited with Dr. Alana Marie Levinson-LaBrosse, and Occupying Darkness
(Archipelago). Her writing has appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Poetry, World Literature Today, Modern Poetry in Translation, and The Offing. She sits on the Board of Outreach at Henar Press, and currently serves as Kashkul’s Forum Director of the Kurdish Studies Forum at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani.
