Halo

Born and raised in Slemani, Halo currently serves as a major with the Peshmerga. He is an avid translator, having translated more than thirty books into Kurdish, including Yoko Ogawa’s The Memory Police and Haruki Murakami’s After the Quake. His poetry translations have been featured in literary journals including World Literature Today and Asymptote. Along with bringing Bachtiyar Ali’s Uncle Jamshid (Rahand, 2026) into English, he and Alana Marie Levinson-LaBrosse are also co-translating Sherko Bekas’ Now A Girl Is My Homeland. He is the co-founder of Nawendi Befr, a publishing house dedicated to translating children’s stories and educational books.
