May 15, 2022 will mark the 74th anniversary of the Nakba, when historic Palestine ceased to exist and Israel established itself inside the Green Line borders.
Combatants for Peace, which is hosting this joint event, is an NGO whose members work toward a two state solution in the 1967 borders, OR any other mutually agreed upon solution that will allow both Israelis and Palestinians to live in freedom, security, democracy and dignity in their homeland.
The Nakba Remembrance Ceremony expresses Combatants for Peace’s belief that reconciliation, freedom, and respect involves a sincere reckoning with history. Together, Palestinians, Israelis, and internationals, we recall the horrors and pain of the year 1948; the year that marked a significant milestone in the history of the Palestinian people. More than 700,000 Palestinians became refugees as they were expelled from their homes and their villages and cities were destroyed. But the Nakba is more than just one moment in time, the pain continues today as the occupation continues. Acknowledging and honoring this pain the only path to forging a peaceful future with true equality, freedom and dignity for all.
