Mark LeVine is Professor of history and Director of the Program in Global Middle East Studies at UC Irvine. He is a 2020-21 Guggenheim Fellow, and author of several books, among them Heavy Metal Islam: Rock, Resistance, and the Soul of Islam;Why They Don’t Hate Us: Lifting the Veil on the Axis of Evil; and Overthrowing Geography: Jaffa, Tel Aviv and the Struggle for Palestine.
