Gaja Pellegrini-Bettoli is an independent Italian American journalist and author, focusing on the MENA region. She grew up between the US and Italy and has lived in countries across Europe and the Middle East. Fatherless Generation derives from Pellegrini-Bettoli’s experiences covering major news stories and navigating daily life. The book takes the reader behind the scenes with the aim of personalizing what can often come across through the media as a simplified and, thus, distorted narrative. From her first-person accounts on the front lines of Mosul in 2017 to the many interviews with high-profile Lebanese figures, Gaja relates riveting stories that are compelling for their global impact, all while lifting the veil on the processes behind the final product and never neglecting the human dimension of conflict.
