Seta Kabranian-Melkonian was born in the Bekaa valley of Lebanon into a family of Armenian Genocide survivors. She completed her MFA at the University of Alaska, Anchorage and her PhD in Armenian literature at Yerevan State University in Armenia. She is the co-author of My Brother’s Road: An American’s Fateful Journey to Armenia (I.B. Tauris, 2005) and Avo: Monte Melkonian’s Life and Death (Lusabats, 2007). Her book, The Consecrated Ones: Garlen Ananian’s Path (Armenian) was published in 2017. Her essays appear in Hetq.am, the online magazine for the Investigative Journalists of Armenia. Her literary works have been published in Inknagir, Atticus Review and others literary magazines. She is an affiliate editor for Alaska Quarterly Review and teaches at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Before moving to the USA, she led a non-governmental organization to assist refugees, victims of war and the neediest of the needy. Her interests remain migration due to war and social justice.
