is a UK-based actor, writer, and filmmaker of Saudi, Palestinian, and Yemeni heritage. Her previous writing includes a socio-political blog documenting her travels and studies in Iran, and more recently poetry inspired by the struggle for Palestinian liberation. She is currently working on post-production for Assutur, a Saudi-based short film that she wrote and directed, which explores the roles of honor and shame cultures in Arab societies. Her upcoming theatre projects include playing the role of Yemeni nurse Mira in For the Love of Merthyr, a musical set in the late 1940s focusing on the role of women and immigrants in shaping the NHS in Wales. At home, Masry loves to play the piano and helps run Basima’s Kitchen, her sister’s food business inspired by their Palestinian grandmother’s culinary teachings.
