Reem Alghazzi, a Syrian documentary filmmaker and writer, lived through the entire Syrian war. She was imprisoned twice for her political stance against the current regime. Her films have been screened at international and local festivals, and several of her texts have been published in Arab-language newspapers. She established the Stories Film Lab, a filmmaking training laboratory for young directors in Damascus. She holds a degree in literature and theatre criticism from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and English literature from the University of Damascus. Currently, she is co-teaching a course on exile, migration, culture, and documentary filmmaking at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, U.S.A.
