Samir Kacimi

is an Algerian novelist born in 1974 who has devoted his career to the art of storytelling and literary criticism. With ten novels to his name, several have been translated into French, earning critical acclaim and prestigious accolades. Among these are the esteemed Asia Djebar Grand Prize for the Novel for his work The Book of Destiny (2016) and the Hachemi Saidan Award for the best debut Algerian novel for Statement of Loss (2010). Many of his works have graced the shortlists of notable Arab and international literary prizes. Three of his novels have been rendered into French: Love in a Slanted Autumn (Éditions du Seuil, 2017), A Wonderful Day to Die (Actes Sud, 2020), and, most recently, Folly as No One Has Told It, a work that garnered nominations for multiple distinguished awards.
