Noura Ali-Ramahi
is a Lebanese-born Emirati multidisciplinary artist based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Her artistic practice is largely inspired by her daily sunrise walks in the golf club near her home, where she draws inspiration from the natural landscape that she considers an extension of her studio in Abu Dhabi. Self-taught and highly experimental, she uses acrylic paint, pastels, and ink on canvas, paper, and found objects she picks up on her walks, such as concrete blocks. Noura considers herself an art activist who uses creativity to speak out on subjects she feels passionately about, such as the environment and displacement. She also works extensively with collage, often recycling packaging cardboard and plastic bags into artworks depicting nature. She views her work as an act of meditation, particularly the large-scale, temporary drawings she creates on the beach using her rake or shells. Noura also expresses herself in poetry, which she has been writing since she was a teenager. She is currently venturing into ceramics, installation, photography, and video. Noura has had group and solo exhibitions in Abu Dhabi at N2N Gallery, Etihad Modern Art Gallery, NYU-AD Art Gallery Project Space, and Tashkeel in Dubai. She is a mother of four.
