Baxtyar Hamasur

(born 1985, Slemani, Kurdistan) is a Kurdish short story writer. In 2012, he graduated from the Department of Agriculture at Slemani University. In 2010, he published his first short story, “Red Bicycle.” He has authored two collections of stories: Ants Walking Beneath the Moonlight (Ghazalnus, 2015) and Ready: Click! (Yadgar, 2021). In 2016, he won first prize for a short story at the 20th Galawej International Festival, and in 2020, he served as a judge for the same prize. In 2021, he participated in UNESCO’s International Literature Festival in Slemani with his research titled “A New Ranking for the History of Kurdish Story.” He has published numerous articles, research, and literary memoirs in newspapers and magazines. In 2018, Jiyar Homer translated two of his stories into Persian, which were published by Nabsht and Mindmotor in Afghanistan and Iran, respectively. Hamasur currently serves as an editor at Rovar Publication within Sardam Publishing House and has new stories ready for publication. This marks the first time one of his stories has been published in English.
