Rabah<\/h4>\n<p>Translated from the Arabic by Ammiel Alcalay<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><strong>Children of Wars<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We\u2019re the children of wars that ate our languages<br \/>\nand bequeathed us the language of blankness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">The last flame in her lamp<br \/>\nthe last sorrowful moans flowing from<br \/>\nthe edges in the map of this crying<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">we were uprooted until our hearts were torn apart like shredded cloud<br \/>\nand suns multiplied from our skin<br \/>\nfrom our bare feet on the pavement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We\u2019re the children of wars raised without respite<br \/>\ngrown old with the sorrow of a thousand years<br \/>\nwe\u2019re no prophets<br \/>\nnor legends<br \/>\nnor Gods<br \/>\nwe\u2019re the ones hanging on the slogans\u2019 cross.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We\u2019re the children of wars that ate our languages<br \/>\nand gave us for a roof over our heads<br \/>\nor any home only hunger.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We\u2019re the children of wars that ate our languages<br \/>\nand bequeathed us the bitterness of death in batches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We\u2019re the children of wars<br \/>\nand its last guardians<br \/>\nthe last gravestones at its gates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We wipe the tears of angels<br \/>\nand sing all the forgotten songs<br \/>\nto the tender anemone by the sea.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><strong>The Color of Blossom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We pray the color of the blossom<br \/>\nsprouts the dream in us to cross<br \/>\nthe narrow darkness and hang<br \/>\nour clothes on the sun to dry<br \/>\nfrom all the tears of war and run<br \/>\nwith the memory of a child<br \/>\nwho forgives the country and<br \/>\nplays barefoot next to
