These poems reflect her movement, but above all they speak to her core belief in the power of empathy and compassion as aesthetic markers. Come.<br \/>\nWrap your tongues<br \/>\naround my waist, darling,<br \/>\nand tie them tight.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">DADDY\u2019S GLASS HOUSE<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Will I ever stop having<br \/>\nthese dreams, Mama, or<br \/>\nwill these dreams stop<br \/>\nhaving me tossing<br \/>\nand turning? When<br \/>\nI grow up, can I<br \/>\ntouch the thermostat<br \/>\non my dreams?<br \/>\nI want to dream myself<br \/>\nto warm places where<br \/>\nI can dance in someone<br \/>\nelse\u2019s shoes and bleed<br \/>\nsomeone else\u2019s blood.<br \/>\nCause my whole class<br \/>\nlaughed at me on career<br \/>\nday, Mama, when I said<br \/>\nI wanted to be a child<br \/>\nwhen I growed up<br \/>\nso I can go back<br \/>\nto when clouds<br \/>\nlooked like cotton candy,<br \/>\n(before ugly mushrooms),<br \/>\nand when we used to call<br \/>\nbras boob holders<br \/>\nand tit slings<br \/>\nand that was all right, Mama.<br \/>\nWhen Daddy used to snore<br \/>\nholes in the wall,<br \/>\nremember that, Mama?<br \/>\nWhen Daddy lived with us<br \/>\nand not on my Christmas list<br \/>\nand your shit list, remember<br \/>\nthat Mama? I mean<br \/>\ndid he have to go<br \/>\naway to that glass place?<br \/>\nCan you forgive Daddy<br \/>\nas skin forgives bruises,<br \/>\nMama? Why you be<br \/>\ntelling me to grow up<br \/>\nthen say I\u2019m too young<br \/>\nto understand? I mean,<br \/>\ncan I ask the question<br \/>\nI been fixing my lips to;<br \/>\ncan I go visit Daddy<br \/>\nagain in that glass house,<br \/>\nMama please? Do I have<br \/>\nto grow up?
