Leila Aboulela<\/b>\u00a0is author of the story “Raise Your Head High<\/a>.”Her most recent novel is\u00a0River Spirit<\/i>, published by Saqi Books. Her short story collection\u00a0Elsewhere, Home<\/i>, won the Saltire Fiction Book of the Year. Leila was born in Cairo, grew up in Khartoum and moved in her mid-twenties to Scotland where she now lives.

Farah Ahamed<\/b>\u00a0wrote the story “Anarkali, or Six Early Deaths in Lahore<\/a>.” Her writing has been published in Ploughshares, White Review, LA Review of Books, Massachusetts Review, World Literature Today and The Markaz Review, among others. She lives in London.<\/div>\n

Jordan Elgrably<\/b>\u00a0is the founder of The Markaz Review, author of the story “<\/span>The Afghan and the Persian<\/a>,” and editor of the anthology\u00a0<\/span>Stories from the Center of the World<\/i> published by City Lights.<\/span><\/div>\n

Malu Halasa <\/b>is literary editor at The Markaz review and the author of the short story “A Dog in the Woods<\/a>” in the same anthology.

Tariq Mehmood<\/b>\u00a0is the writer of the story “The\u00a0Settlement<\/a>,” as well as a novelist and filmmaker. Among his works are the novel\u00a0Hand On The Sun<\/i>, on the experience of racism by young migrants to the UK, and\u00a0While There Is Light<\/i>, a novel backdropped by the case of the BRADFORD 12. He lives and teaches in Beirut.<\/div>\n
