Two important panel discussions will take place at the beginning of March. The first, \u201cProsecuting the Powerful,\u201d on Monday, March 3, with Steve Crawshaw, author of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prosecuting the Powerful: War Crimes and the Battle for Justice<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; the Guardian\u2019s senior international affairs correspondent previously based in Kabul, Emma Graham-Harrison; Channel 4 News\u2019 International Editor Lindsey Hilsum, who reviewed <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sum<\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sevenstories.com\/books\/4653-sumud\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u016b<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">d: A New Palestinian Reader<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the TLS and covered the return of the Taliban in Afghanistan; along with FT\u2019s foreign correspondent Polina Ivanova. One question the panel will answer is whether prosecuting the powerful with war crimes is \u201cachievable, with the return of Donald Trump to the White House, a president who loathes accountability and wants to weaken or destroy the International Criminal Court?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An equally important discussion at the Frontline Club is \u201cSudan\u2019s Forgotten War,\u201d on Monday, March 10, with Yasmine Ahmed, UK Director of Human Rights Watch; BBC\u2019s Sudanese journalist Mohanad Hashim, who returned to his Omdurman neighbourhood for the first time since the war began \u2014 watch his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/videos\/cly6qgwzyx6o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Also speaking is British-Sudanese medical doctor and UK parliamentary advisor on Sudan, Eva Khair, the founding director of the peace-building Sudan Transnational Consortium; and the Times\u2019 war reporter for 30 years, Anthony Lloyd. It\u2019s set to run at the Royal Court following its recent Off-Broadway debut at the New York Theatre Workshop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The play centers around Mariam who is all too aware that the army often drops small warning bombs\u2014known as a &#8220;knock on the roof&#8221;\u2014which give residents in Gaza only 5 to 15 minutes to evacuate before their homes are turned to rubble. With a blend of dry humor and fierce determination, Mariam practices for the performance of her life, carefully considering what\u2014and who\u2014she can take with her when the time comes. A conversation with writer-performer Khawla Ibraheem is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4. She has collated these into a beautifully illustrated Persian-language book chronicling a collaborative exploration of nostalgia, identity and home through personal stories of migration. Rouzbehani explains that these <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">keepsakes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are \u201cemotional anchors\u201d that bridge past and present on<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">migrant<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">women\u2019s journeys of loss, transformation and \u201cself-redefinition\u201d \u2014 experiences that, for many, are \u201can existential rupture\u201d akin to \u201ctearing out roots to replant them.\u201d Indeed, while most share anecdotes of family heirlooms and other objects, some transported plants across continents!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She insists that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Migrated Keepsakes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is \u201cmore than a book\u201d and rather \u201ca collective archive of Iranian women\u2019s migration experiences, told in their own voices, through the things that matter most to them.\u201d The invisibility of Iranian women in English-language-dominated Western consciousness prompted her first book, in which she biographized, illustrated, and celebrated <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 Inspiring Iranian Women<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. She continues her interdisciplinary research into Iranian women\u2019s identities that connect cultural traditions to present realities.
