Brossard conflates writing with lovemaking \u2026the poems forming a grammar of desire, like a diagrammed body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brossard has published more than 30 books. Her poetry collections include\u00a0<em>Avant Desire: A Nicole Brossard Reader<\/em>\u00a0(2020), edited by\u00a0Erin Wunker, Genevi\u00e8ve Robichaud, and Sina Queryas;\u00a0<em>White Piano<\/em>\u00a0(2013), translated by\u00a0Robert Majzels and Erin Mour\u00e9;\u00a0<em>Nicole Brossard: Selections<\/em>\u00a0(2010), translated by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.poetryfoundation.org\/poets\/jennifer-moxley\">Jennifer Moxley<\/a>;\u00a0<em>Notebook of Roses and Civilization<\/em>\u00a0(2006), translated by Robert Majzels and Erin Mour\u00e9, which was shortlisted for the Griffin International Poetry Prize; and\u00a0<em>Installations<\/em>\u00a0(1989),\u00a0translated by Robert Majzels and Erin Mour\u00e9. She is also the author of numerous novels, including\u00a0<em>Mauve Desert<\/em>\u00a0(1987),\u00a0translated by Susanne de Lotbini\u00e8re-Harwood,\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Lovhers<\/em>\u00a0(1986), translated by Barbara Godard.<\/p>\n<p>The editor of the anthology\u00a0<em>The Story So Far: Les Strategies du reel<\/em>\u00a0(1979), Brossard co-founded the Quebec literary journals\u00a0<em>La Barre du Jour<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>La Nouvelle Barre du Jour<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Her honors include a Lifetime Recognition Award from the Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry, the Canada Council\u2019s Molson Prize, the Prix Athanase-David and two awards for poetry from the Governor General. She founded the journal <em>La Barre du Jour<\/em>, was one of the co-founding members of the Union des \u00e9crivaines et \u00e9crivains qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois, piloted the Quebec dossier for the magazine <em>Opus International<\/em>, and was a member of the steering committee for the International Writers\u2019 Meeting in 1975 (theme: women and writing). For her writing, she has twice received the Grand Prix du festival international de po\u00e9sie, among many other honors. Brossard has published thirty books, including <em>Lointaines <\/em>(2010), from which the current selection is drawn, and a book on translation, <em>Et me voici soudain en train de refaire le monde.<\/em> In 2019, she was awarded the Lifetime Recognition Award from The Griffin Trust For Excellence in Poetry. She tweets at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NicBrossard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@NicBrossard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Translators\u2019 bios:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Sylvain Gallais<\/strong> is a native French speaker transplanted to the U.S. seventeen years ago.\u00a0 He is an emeritus professor of Economics at Universit\u00e9 Francois Rabelais (Tours, France) and of French in the School of International Letters and Culture at Arizona State University.\u00a0 His co-authored book in economics is entitled <em>France Encounters Globalization<\/em> (2003).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cynthiahogue.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Cynthia Hogue<\/strong><\/a> has nine collections of poetry, most recently <em>Revenance<\/em>, listed as one of the 2014 \u201cStandout\u201d books by the Academy of American Poets, <em>In June the Labyrinth <\/em>(Red Hen Press, 2017), and <em>Contain <\/em>(Tram Editions).\u00a0 Her co-translations (all with Sylvain Gallais) include <em>Fortino S\u00e1mano (The overflowing of the poem),<\/em> from the French of Virginie Lalucq and Jean-Luc Nancy,<em> w<\/em>hich won the Landon Translation Award from the Academy of American Poets in 2013, <em>Joan Darc, <\/em>by Natalie Quintane, and <em>Distantly, <\/em>by Nicole Brossard. Hogue\u2019s honors include two NEA Fellowships and the H.D.
